The circus was made as a therapy program, gone wrong, that's why all the avatars seem to match up with the issues presented by the minds which inhabit them. Kinger had become absorbed by his work and partial narcissism, so his model has big bulbous eyes to represent screen fatigue (especially caused by the VR headsets) and a king motif. Jax is always smiling because he can't be open about his emotions. Ragatha is a damage-prone stitched up rag-doll due to having self harm issues. etc etc.
The entire program was misguided but well intentioned, Kinger made it to help people in his life because he himself was never the best at giving advice himself.
