I personally prefer a flatbed scanner for the optimum results, but some scanners won't use them to do books that would, at minimum, get spine damage if you tried to force, for example, some HC with some 100 or way more pages to it, and Pyrate's already indicated that's not what he's doing to do the Archive Editions or used to do the Zatanna book.

Yeah I went and hit two LCS a few weeks back wondering since I have the cash if I wanted to take apart any of the Silver Age Compact DC or DC Finest books I'd be interested in reading for myself and realized that with some of the gutters, even a willingness to tear apart the book would leave an awful result. I'm not spending $30-50 on that even if I have it to waste. I'd rather buy some Japanese whiskey.
