i think he's kinda Bane-ish when he goes mob boss for a bit, but that was a weird era. Croc being able to both overpower AND outsmart you is very much similar to Bane's wheelhouse (underestimating Bane's intelligence is always, ALWAYS a bad idea), but Croc as a clever strategist with ways out of basically any situation he's in lines up more with the thief portfolio than the murderer or even mobster one, IMO.

one fundamental difference i see between Croc and Bane as hypothetical character archetypes is that Croc is much more willing to bounce even from fights he'll probably win, because he's much more cautious in the thick of it than Bane is. it's something that has historically made Waylon VERY difficult to catch in many of his appearances - he won't stick around and wait for the reinforcements the hero called to show up, he'll be in the sewers and out of range in moments when he wants to be. Bane, on the other hand, can (whether this is a 'respectful' way to characterize him or not) very easily get tunnel-visioned.

of course reducing Croc to just an animal makes all that depth and strategy moot, and is a big reason i despise it.
