One way or other that little speech makes Lucy a liar. Either she's discounting the pets so that she can pretend to be even more of a victim, or the pets never mattered to her except as an emotional pick-me-up and props for her to play house with Mike. I really have difficulty not seeing Lucy as an abuser, every time she tells the story of her childhood it always circles back to weaponized dependency, blame shifting, and tallying up everything she ever did for him which taking for granted everything he ever did for her.
Mike accepts guilt, Lucy projects guilt. It's tiresome, Paulo better break this cycle.
