I loathe the empty spectacles more than anything. Remember when Marvel ripped off the Hunger Games with Arcade as the villain, and killed off a bunch of obscure young characters like Mettle in Avengers Arena? The trend-chasing was bad enough, but feeding a bunch of characters into the woodchipper for the sake of “stakes” annoyed me to no end.
