Meanspirited ranges from "this show is being mean to characters I like and that makes me uncomfy" to "oh my God, everyone in this show hates each other, can't ANYONE catch a break?"
I feel that I see the term "mean spirited" used the most when one specific character gets fucked over over a prolonged period of time without obtaining any "victories" or whatever fuck this I need to sleep someone finish my point for me I'm heading out
