Okay, here's the issue. Never underestimate what kind of dumb emotionally volatile shenanigans drunks are capable of.
You know those "two guys looked at each other wrong" or "one guy got pushed into the other because the restaurant was crowded" bar fight tropes you see in media? They're real and they're just the surface. I have seen bar fights break out over whose turn it was to order a round, I have seen barfights break out over missing phone chargers, I have seen barfights break out because two girls who already secretly hated each other or were after the same guy ended up drinking while hanging around a mutual friend.
Some people will come in flat out hoping to get in a fight because they've had a bad day and were already a bit buzzed when they came in.
A drunk dude thinking you're there to show him up and walking up to assert himself before getting sporadically angry and knocking you in the jaw is not out of the question.
