It's not even as though I was asking for high art here, I can even look past the "violence is futile" point because I accepted that was the subtext from the very beginning. I was just sold on this story as "an inherently amoral setting where selfishness and pure ego replaces the ideal of nirvana in Buddhism" and instead I got a cheesy friendship aesop, a cheesy "nihilism bad" aesop, Maya getting ugly bastard'd for a year to make some kind of point, and Allison only just getting her shit together after being sandbagged in a mostly offscreen lesbian relationship.

Actually, isn't it weird how people on /co/ were more excited to ship Allison and Cio BEFORE they officially hooked up? The chase really is more fulfilling than the target, sometimes. And that I think says more about Royalty than anything in the past year's worth of updates.
