Tenchi Muyo was before Adult Swim was invented so of course it was butchered.
With Gundam Wing I remember that American Cartoon Network staff had to go over to Japan itself to get the license directly from Sunrise themselves and Sunrise wanted so much money for Gundam Wing that it would've been cheaper to make 55 additional episodes of Johnny Bravo then it was to license Gundam Wing.
