Adventure Time and Steven Universe weren't even bad shows when they started out.
The problems started when every new cartoon on the network could be traced back to Adventure Time in some way, there was no fresh blood coming in and you could probably say that about the industry as a whole during the late 2010s.
It wasn't lesbians, it was inbreeding that killed it.
