I'm assuming they were going to ditch the whole down to earth dramedy atheistic used in the live action hybrid film from the 90's and were set to prioritize more on classic slapstick humor from the actual cartoons, like the Spooktacular TV Show based on the film (pic related)? I mean the character design for Casper may have looked tricky to acclimate and I'm fearing they would have done the same to other characters like the Ghostly Trio (Stinkie, Strechie and Fatso) or Wendy the Good Witch, even by design. On the other hand, if King Of The Hill writers were able to do something like this with their own style of humor, maybe this would have worked. Who knows.
