I could have explained it better. I don't know if Gimp has brush presets using that term, but that's what most other art tools I've tried call it. You can try it by enabling Incremental, but I don't ever find the air brush useful. Even when I'm making blended colours or gradients, I much prefer making stripes using 30% opacity brushes and then using blur.

It's just a useful art exercise for beginners. It's probably the easiest edit you can make, uncensored a bar censor on simple colours. That one is a little complex because the glans are mostly hidden, but that's what makes it good practice and is the same as the one I decensored.
It'll teach you not to view art as a whole image, rather as small abstract parts
