i ran out of space, but had a bit more to say, still. gimp crashed when i was undoing/redoing the "select" > "save to channel" thing, because i was trying to figure out how to put a selection under another layer, and even after watching a tutorial on it:

i didn't understand that the tutorial had nothing to do with what i was trying to do, because it dealt with the "channels" tab, not the "layers" tab (i guess the channels tab still has "layers", though, hence this false positive of a video showing up for me). what i actually had to do was "edit" > "copy visible", then paste it, which pastes the selection as its own layer, in the "layers" tab

the reason i was trying to do that was because the gen i was trying to edit has the dick leaking precum:

i used "quick mask" to select only the parts of the precum that overlapped with the smegma i edited in (trial and error made me feel not selecting the black outline of the precum- which is to say, just letting the smegma go over it- looks a lot better), pasted that selection as its own layer above the smegma, then set the opacity of the selection to 30%. i think it looks okay, but i also have low standards as a beginner editor. i'd post it, but- again-, the smegma itself is literally just the same smegma i did the first time, so it adds no new information; it's literally just this precum thing that is any different
