Don't want to necro old posts but necause someone asked about img2img upscaling, hiresfix is fine if you just want to immediately get higher res images but I prefer sending to img2img way more, if anyone cares enough here are some reasons why I think you should look into it and hopefully it will help you:
1. You can simply generate text2img in batches, and choose the best gen out of the batch to upscale instead of waiting way more time for the same result,
2. You can edit the prompt in-between. For example, I wanted for the character to have dyed nails but forgot it in the text2img prompt. Once I send it to the img2img upscale, I can simply add the dyed nails prompt and with enough denoise the nails come out the color I wanted. This works really great for some stuff like sweat, which I find that if you prompt for it in text2img and then leave the prompt in img2img, the characters come out excessively sweaty sometimes. It's really cool to play around with.
3. If you want to inpaint details that don't come out properly with prompts alone, the txt2img->inpaint->upscale->final inpaint on upscaled image to fix any problems workflow works way better. Inpainting on upscaled images straight way takes way too long, if you have the hardware for it you might not care but it makes a huge difference with my 3070.
I am very interested in upscaling with controlnet thought like >>11354133 mentioned, I haven't really used controlnet besides simply Anytest to copy poses, I'm really curious to how that works. Should I just enable anytest with the original txt2img while upscaling or do I need another controlnet model?
