trying to figure out how to make the text have an image inside it (in gimp), let alone how to make /only/ specific text from a text layer have an image inside it was so stressful for me. but i eventually learned that i can crop the image layer to only cover the text i want to have the image, so the entire text layer being selected doesn't matter. then when watching a tutorial on how to put an image inside of text, i was so stressed-out by it not working, but i eventually realized that it was because i had "invert mask" selected on the "add layer mask" window, which the tutorial i watched didn't mention to untick:

then it worked for me. as well, i couldn't find a version of the gradient trans pride flag i wanted to use that was even wide enough to be used as a flag, and i found that the blue color was way too narrow to provide much freedom with it, so i found the highest-quality version of it i could:

and extended the width of it from 2k to 10k pixels in mspaint, then opened it in gimp, doubled the canvas size height (2k to 4k) while checking the "center" option to put the flag in the center... then exported it as a .png and expanded the edges in mspaint by sampling the blue on the very edge pixel and paint bucketing in the white space, because i didn't want to bother figuring out how to use the paint bucket tool on alpha backgrounds in gimp. here's the trans pride flag asset i bootlegged together:

all in all, this was way, way, waaaay too much effort to make a trans caption on a transphobic board, but at least i know how to do it and have a trans pride flag i can reuse, i guess
