A darker idea that captivates me for some reason is a giantess goddess getting brutally raped in front of her followers. Like competing city states have their own patron gods and a more war-like nation with a violent god conquers their neighbor with a peaceful and benevolent goddess. So not only does the target city state get looted and razed, but they have the additional humiliation and horror of seeing their loving goddess turned into another one of the war god's concubines. I guess you might call it civilizational NTR or something.
