What are you making a standing desk for? If it's your back, don't. I tried one for an L5-L6 lumbar injury and it made the pain and numbness worse, not to mention adding strain on my legs and joints.
Get a floor desk for your back. Elbows 90 degrees, head forward. The only thing that worked for me. As for height adjustable, try searching chink sites for adjustable table/furniture legs. They have twistable ones that seem durable enough.
