It has been precut from the manufacturer, at maybe 3/8in across? But with the head fully seated, it barely looks like a hairline fracture now, it's been completely squeezed shut. I had to cut the little nock the wedge is resting in just to use as a guide so I wasn't aimlessly beating it against the pole. I guess it sounds like I should try both recutting the kerf and sanding the wedge?
