the blueness distracts you from any leftover male traits she might have in a way that helps her pass, i'll give her that. like, when you see somebody uncanny-looking you might suspect they're trans, but somebody who's trans AND blue? that would be too ridiculous of a person, so you see them just as blue and the trans part gets overshadowed.
