I just checked for my favorite Richard Lange (the salmon dial jumping seconds) which is also 40mm (39.9), and the L2L is 46mm.

On the Lange website the "regular" RL seems to have pretty much the same proportions (accounting for some photographic inconsistencies, see pic)
