>go 24 hours without eating
>glycogen stores get depleted
>go 48 hours without eating
>by this point your body will have been running off of fat for at least 24 hours
>eat again
>your body refills the glycogen stores over the next 1-2 days while running off of fat, all the protein is used to recover any lost muscle
>end up with a 4,500+ calorie deficit, burned exclusively from fat
