>gym worth its salt
I disagree dude, I am in a major metro. gone to local 10p, UFC fighter owned gym, IBJJF champion owned gym, and others, they may teach takedowns but they don't force people to utilize it outside of drills. the average bjj person doesn't want to do takedowns or wrestling because its hard
>Most “bjj nerds” I trained with are muscular and strong af.
your gym is an outlier. i agree there are for sure muscular and strong bjj people. but a majority bjj nerds/casuals are not muscular or strong.
>underhooks are banned
kek, no they're not. obtaining underhooks is basically the goal of clinching, its the most dominant position for knees to the face. overhooks are good too, but for knees to the body. you don't know what you're talking about.
what is banned in MT grappling it hip tosses, trips from the back of the leg, and any sort of joint lock/submission attempt (which would be hard with trad gloves anyways).
