Why does everyone assume that not wanting to blow $1K+ on a depreciating asset means you're poor?
In my experience, poor people are just as likely to buy luxury phones or cars as rich people, if not more so. It doesn't mean you have more or less money, just different priorities.
I use $300 headphones, but many people would be happy with something for $50-60 (heck, some even use $20 walmart earbuds and are content). I prefer a $400 phone because it's good enough for what I use it for, and I would prefer to use the money elsewhere.
If my phone was my main computer, then spending $1k might make sense, if I only use it for calls and texts, a $100 motorola might make more sense.
