Wayland tends to be buggier, more experimental, lacking in features which you may or may not care about. It also introduces latency so it's not very good for gaming, it took forever for them to even consider the idea of having vsync as optional.

Wayland was designed for display kisoks without consideration for interactively (latency). The number #1 priority of Wayland "perfect frames", not consistent frames, not fast frames. Frames that never tear. Additionally they bucked modern hardware trends by using an implicit sync architecture, making it orthogonal to modern graphics hardware (the whole reason for Vulkan, DX12).
