There are high refresh rate "hybrid" monitors that offer different refresh rates all because the cables and ports are insufficient to deliver the max refresh the monitors are capable of internally. These garbage ports are still holding us back all these years after they were incapable of even 4K60 torturing people with 4:2:0 subsampling or forcing 30Hz on early adopters.
