Why is a "dead on arrival" project picking up more and more contributors? Putting out a new minor release every week? Being accepted into distros?

I really don't care if xfce is "dead" or not. Openbox is "dead" because it is more or less perfect.
Old code does not equal bad code, that is rusttroon thinking. If a codebase has existed for 40 years its probably due to it being robust as fuck.
