It's seemingly completely forgotten but in the mid 90s there was a version of Windows where they went overboard with the web stuff and made even the desktop work like webpages. The main change was making launching programs into a single click, like clicking a link on a webpage, instead of a single click to focus an item and double click to open/launch. Everyone hated it and they quickly released a patch to return the normal behavior. Today the company would just tell uses to go fuck themselves, the change is permanent and there's nothing that can be done to go back.
