most prosumer/soho level stuff will auto-configure itself enough that wouldnt necessarily have to change anything. If you did tinker around with something and cause an issue at worst a factory reset will get you going again. You really only would run into real configuration issues if you were running real enterprise level stuff at home, which you wouldnt because that is pretty silly for most scenarios
