I think you are vastly overestimating how intelligent criminals are, or how much they can expect of their customers.
Many criminals who have to interact with the public (drug dealers) will insist on using something like Snapchat, because they are retarded and think that the image self-destructing means it's safe.
I have seen a Snapchat story of someone filming their house being raided, captioned that they won't find the drugs.
I agree overall though, that "the children" is being used as a shield against any criticism of this legislation.
