and the dumb shit wasn't even like "it was designed wrong", more "there are physical limits". I fondly remember trying to explain to several officers that satellite internet doesn't work when the mast of your ship is in the way of your transceiver and the satellite, and marvelling at the fact that even the CO would gladly waste millions of dollars of fuel and several weeks of people's time on a suboptimal route just to clear the mast by a few degrees and that the crew would tolerate that because you NEED to be able to get onto Reddit from the operations room during the more boring watches
