The only worthwhile invention in StarTrek is the replicator and space ships that can travel faster then speed of light, which are both still trillion years away or more likely impossible. The whole show had so many plot holes and sci go in general is now disappointing because most people know we will have ASI doing literally everything for us before we get any other cool sci fun space thing. StarTrek is a fantasy where the lame parts of tech like AGI making every decision or gene editing turning us into weird parodies of humanity in search of perfection aren’t there while replicator, aliens and space travel are there. Not to mention, if replicators, holodeck and AI assistants are real in Star Trek then wtf are people doing all day? Why do they need more then 1 person doing stuff on the ship? The show does not explore that because people have normalcy bias. Yeah we have this machine that can bake basically everything out of thin air and AI assistant that can operate machines, but somehow we still go to 9 to 5 office jobs and wage wars with soldiers, just now they have laser guns.
Completely naive worldbuilding meant to make space stories rather then be thought out.
