A storm knocked out power for a week and his ISP took that chance to cancel his service/account. When the power came back he called them to ask them why his Internet wasn't working and they told him his account was deactivated due to not being used for a week. He asked them to reinstate his service and they said they no longer offer dialup Internet for new customers.

He was basically forced to upgrade to DOCSIS cable if he wanted Internet at home.
