Yeah, not a bad use. I usually do some bastard version of Conventional Commits without BREAKING CHANGE. But then I squash it because my thought process is unnecessary once the work is all done. Crazy people would rebase to organize things better, but that's kind of the core issue: nobody needs to care about git commit history so use it however you want.
