Hiawatha is in maintenance mode. Cherokee hasn't had a release in years, but there is some activity on their github. They're both made by Europeans (Leisink is Dutch or Belgian, I think, and the Cherokee guy is Spanish) so they probably don't care as much about appeasing the wokies. The whole omg we can't culturally appropriate thing is mostly a North American phenomenon.
