i used to live in Oklahoma, which has a ton of Indians and Indian nations (Cherokee, Muscogee Creek, Kiowa, etc.) and most of the Indians i knew didn't give a single fuck about any of this stuff
i knew one who even collected merch with all of the old "offensive" team names and whatnot on it because he was pissed off that they changed it
he thought it was dope as fuck that his people were considered such warriors that you'd name your team after them
kind of like how the NZ All-Blacks do the haka before games even though most of them aren't Maori
