They do whine but you can't hear it. I heard it as a kid. Don't hear it now. I can hear about 18khz too at nearly 40 years old, and at my age that's pretty fucking good, not sure how I can do it considering all the loud shit my ears have been exposed to. I don't know what frequency that whine is, but it must be super high.
