Not sure why I never attempted to research into this. Good to know I was just a dumbass who assumed PCIe version was strict. So I should pass on a rebuild and could just do an upgrade to:

> 5900XT - $270 - w/o cooler at local Microcenter, reuse my 3700x's heatsink+fan
> Double up the RAM - $60 - ddr4-3600 cl16-19-19-39 found another matching 2x8GB set on amazon
> Total: $980
I already have a 750w PSU, so I am pretty sure that should hold out still.
