If you've got automotive-grade wire already in a small enough gauge then it'll work fine, it's such a short run that it's not gonna affect anything.
Funnily enough a very easy and not overly expensive way to get your hands on good quality copper wire is ethernet cable. Not as flexible as you'd want for a cable, but works great for internal connections.
