Take any latge branches/back weight off the opposed side they wished to fall it. Use a real rigging rope meant for arboriculture and hook it to a truck.
But the big one: dont do any angled back cut. Your back cuts must always be horizontal. Amateurs thing an angled back cut helps it fall in the right direction. What it actually does is create a pivot point on the remaining hinge making it more likely to snap.
