El Toro Air Show F86 Sabre crash.

I was there in the front row against the gate.

The pilot got sick and canceled and his friend took over for him. He was supposed to do a mock dog fight with a Mig latter but the Mig was grounded due to mechanical issues.

The Sabre took off and did a couple of maneuvers then came in low, too low, and started a loop. It went through the loop coming back down over the runway and it was obvious it was way too low. It leveled out and flew just a few feet above the tarmac and then just dropped. Didn't nose down or anything. It was like the force holding it up and just disappeared. When it blew I thought it was pyrotechnics and part of the show but it didn't come out the other side then I saw the cockpit rolling down the runway. The heat from the explosion was unbelievable. I thought I was being burned.
