>"You can learn the skills required for painting in the same way you can learn anything else you are strongly drawn to."
That's not the point of talent, It's about the effectivenes of your learning. Someone with "talent", or better genetic advantage for visual observation and fine motor skills will have an innate advantage and will be able to learn the same things in a shorter timeframe with less effort, than someone without a genetic predisposition. It also affects your possible ceiling/max potential.
Genetics affect all areas of your life, not just drawing.
Some people have to put in 10/10 effort to achieve 7/10 results.
You would be naive to blame a 70iq person for not being able to solve advanced algebra.
If you really tried and put in alot of effort, trying different methods and it still doesn't work out, don't blame yourself.
You werent born for it and it's not your fault.
I think people would be alot more at piece with themselves, instead of being gaslit all the time, where they think it's all their fault. This "Oh you can do everything in life you want, you just have to work really hard" is false and harmful for mental health. Hard work doesn't mean much, results do.
The work has to be effective
If your hard work doesn't amount to much, or less than you expected, you know where you stand.
