Well you really have to ask yourself how valuable your time is and how good of an artist you think you are. I've seen commission prices range from $25 to $750 and while the upper echelon tends to belong to famous artists (Supply and demand, more people want art by these famous artists) the lower rungs are mostly for lower intermediate level artists and people in countries where $25-50 is a lot of money. There are some pretty good artists living in Latin America or SE Asia who would love to get $50 for 3-5 hours of work. For Americans, that's less attractive. For most 1st world artists I see prices around $75-150 for full renders, but again this is influenced by popularity. Bigger artists charge more because they get more commission requests.
But that brings us back to you. What is YOUR time worth? If you have a job your hourly wage is one way to measure it. And honestly, you don't have to zero in on some super optimal number right away. If you accidentally ask for too little money you can always raise your prices afterwards, and vice-versa.
