You can't talk of the homicide rate in LatAm without talking about drugs and slums.
76% of our homicide victims are black or brown.
Nearly 50% are between the ages of 15-29.
Apparently, the homicide rate for whites, Asians and Amerindians is 10 per 100 thousand, similar to New York in 1995. Still unsafe, to be honest, but it can vary a lot. In São Paulo the homicide rate as a whole is apparently 5,11, so for whites it must be, I don't know, maybe 3,0 or 2,5.
