I truly am thankful that you guys recognize that, and I wish more people did. Homosexuality isn't just a different orientation, it is combination of phenotypical and neurological differences, caused by both genetics and the enviornment (such as the mother's womb). Largest study ever conducted on sexual orientations found that homosexual men and heterosexual women share similarities in certain cognitive and brain characteristics, potentially due to shared developmental pathways influenced by prenatal hormone exposure. Other studies have shown that the suprachiasmatic nucleus (a region of hypothalamus), which is involved in regulating circadian rhythms, is larger in homosexual men compared to heterosexual men, similar to heterosexual women. The difference of index finger average face of heterosexual men vs homosexual men (look it up) are staggering. These studies suggest the strong genetic influence, and mental instability you mentioned is partly due to this as well as repression and cultural stigma. We gay men are something between men and women, and while I believe it's naturally occuring phenomenon, it's still horrible and I don't like being this way. The least socity could do is accept us for the way we are, but that is never going to happen, so I find all the efforts fruitless.
I'm closeted but no one has thought I'm gay, even though it would be quite easy to tell just by personality traits alone, let alone voice, face etc.
