You unlock "passion" once you make enough progress to feel good about what you're doing. This switcharoo shit is the beginner's curse, it only happens to people that overthink at the start and haven't put enough time into the hobby to get any meaningful results. Learn the top 1000 most common words, read one (1) graded reader from start to finish, understand a TL video from start to finish, get through one movie or tv show episode while doing lookups, put 100 hours of effort into your TL, achieve any kind of meaningful milestone and you will feel good about it. And once you feel good about it, you realize you can put in some more work and experience it again.
