most likely out of spite. when I read Indonesian literature that are written from 90s, the language is familiar to me and I believe that nowadays they're called as formal language that strictly follows the KBBI vocab. Which means, no shortforms or bahasa gaul embedded in the writings. I was surprised that when I try to peer review thesis from Indonesia, the prof allows slips of bahasa gaul here and there.
