I use two sims. Keep a main number on a cheap PAYG sim and then I get the lebara deals which are monthly contracts at around £1-2 per month for the first 8 months before going to £11 or so. It's a new customer deal but you can just keep using new and separate sims for the data each time, or port it to another cheap PAYG card and then come back if you need to keep the number on it.
