My reply re: the quality of the two animes got lost because the old thread died, but IMO the first season was much more focused than the second one. Someone said both were just CGDCT but at least the first season focused on one group and had them working towards a specific goal. I have no idea what the fuck the second anime was even trying to accomplish other than trying (and failing) to appeal to the lowest common denominator.
I'm not even really big on the new units but at least if >>49647109 got his way and UniMare's intro story was the 2nd anime season instead, it probably would have performed a lot better than what we got and possibly saved the franchise from being basically dead.
