I think "plausible deniability" would actually backfire on Putin/Lukashenko in this case. It being "the Belarusian army we're totally fighting, NOT the Russians" rules out strikes directly into Russia (NATO is never going to directly strike into Russia ffs) but it lets France and Germany just smash the invading army to pieces while saying "Yeah we're definitely not fighting Putin right now, it's just Belarus guys, not World War 3".
