Solder can be very strong if you use the right type, and if the area is large enough it'll be stronger than the brass walls. I don't think anyone would ever need homemade rifle pressure repeating guns, at that point even the gun becomes too complex to make from scratch.

The army keeps training there and I see live ammunition in flea markets from time to time. The thing is, militias rarely fail because they failed at gunsmithing, and your criteria are dumb. Militias fail because schizos like you can't understand people or make friends so there'll be infighting and someone will betray you.
Some guy in Belgium got killed last year after he had amassed an arsenal of a hundred AKs along with ammunition. He had plans to topple Belgium's government because he was a schizo, spoke about it at his shooting club (full of cops) got raided, shot at the cops and got killed.
Do you think making better guns would've improved his chances? The answer is no, he could've improved his chances by learning to read the room and understanding that people just don't want to throw their lives away to topple the government.
